Playing at the Arkansas River

I think I have mentioned this before, but my kids love going to the Arkansas River. They especially love going to Old Post Park. When Jeremy was taking night classes, we started a new tradition... we would go to the park and play for hours. Adrianna & Andrew would slide, swing, throw the football & feed the geese. They enjoyed it and it was free and great exercise! We haven't been all summer because it has been way too hot, but the weather was perfect this weekend so we took advantage and went to one of our favorite places. I even took a few pictures!

Of course Andrew had to show out a little! LOL

Weekend Wrap-Up

Andrew & Jeremy went to the farm... which meant Adrianna & I spent the whole weekend together! We spent all day Saturday shopping {Our favorite thing to do} we had Frappes from McDonalds {So Addictive} My step-mom came over and spent the afternoon with us. Adrianna decided to be crafty & made hair bow holders. Saturday night, we went to Lamar. Adrianna had to cheer at the football game. Pottsville won... GO APACHES! We are now 4-1

Sunday, I had to work from home 8am-6pm so it wasn't much fun... While I was in the computer room working Adrianna
  • super-cleaned & organized her closet and room
  • gathered up a few bags of clothes to take to 'Yours Truly'
  • washed clothes and bedding, sheets, pillows cases, and blankets every bed is freshly clean!
  • washed dishes
  •  picked up, dusted, vacuumed, and mopped the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathrooms
Adrianna is a light in my life that i have always dreamed of...

she has me thoroughly convinced that she prefers hanging out with me over her friends. she has me thoroughly convinced that she highly values my opinions about what she should wear, what color she should buy when shopping for clothing etc, my opinion about how her hair looks, how she should style it, what tastes good...she truly values my opinions about all things. and, she has me convinced that my opinion out-numbers anyone else.

i may have mentioned this before, but miss Adrianna rarely if ever talks back. simply put, she is, and has always been a really great kid. i keep hoping that the teenage years will not change any of this. i realize it's a lot to hope for.

My little girl is so grown-up now, so mature. so responsible.

Here is one of Adrianna's Hair Bow holders.. She gave the others all away before I could take a pic!
They are very simple to make
You just need ribbon, hot glue gun, and wooden owl (got it from hobby lobby for .67)

Determine how long you need your ribbon to be according to how many bows you have
Glue ribbon to the back of the owl
Fold the end & glue so the ribbon doesn't fray
For under $1 you can have your very own hair bow holder!

Girls Night Out

Cassandra & I went to the second annual Girls Night Out @ clear-channel metroplex. I was a little disappointed… It was not nearly as good as last year.  The entertainment was not great. In fact, when the concerts would start we would listen to one or two songs and then walk away.

Jessie James was back... Cassandra is a huge fan! I have to admit she did better. Last year was very awkward.

After her concert, she & her band hung out with everyone and had a few drinks... It was pretty cool!
Her guitar player took these pics

This was a local girl and she could get a party started but didn't follow through... We ended up leaving her concert.

Ryan Star...I had never heard of this guy before & had high hopes but was quickly disappointed. The minute he walked on the stage he acted like a complete JA. He started complaining about everything and was really rude. Cassandra & I listened to him sing about 1 minute and left to get massages instead. First impressions really are important.

BTW skinny jeans & silly bands don't work on grown men...

I really wanted to see Heather & DC but they left out early. I don't blame them
Oh well atleast I got to see Pool Boy

Even though the music was horrible, I still had a great time with my little sister. It's not too often we get to hang out. We had LOTS of laughs!

Happy Labor Day

Hope everyone had a wonderful LABOR Day! We spent the weekend at the farm. We had the lake ALL to ourselves again! Matt, Heidi & Hunter joined us and we had a blast!

We headed home early today and left Jeremy to get some work done. It’s a long way from Hollis to the house so I had a lot of time to think. I got to thinking I haven’t had the kids pictures made in over a year... I don’t know why I started thinking about this but it was really bugging me and made me feel like such a slacker mom. As soon as we got home, I made the kids take showers, brush their teeth and put on the cutes clothes I could find in the closet. I loaded them up with camera in hand on the hunt for the perfect place to take pics. Here is what I came up with...

Surprisingly Andrew was loving getting his picture made and was posing for me! I guess it helped we were at his favorite place in the world {the train station} Adrianna is always photogenic.

More Goodwill Finds

I was doing a little retail therapy on my lunch break last week. I started out at Pier 1. I wanted to see their adorable fall décor. I LOVE that store but I don’t love their prices. After wandering around about 10 minutes I decided to head to the Goodwill store to see if I could find any treasures. I scored BIG time…

I found a doomed cheese plate for $2.50 {seriously who donates this stuff} I already had this candle stick. I bought it about 3 months ago from Big Lots for $2. I had no idea what to do with it but it was so cheap I had to get it…

After a little cleaning, spray paint, and gorilla glue I have this beautiful Cloche and it only cost me $4.50! Now I just need to decide what to put inside it… Any suggestions?

Also, I bought an owl for .50
 {I am so mad at myself for not taking a before picture}
I was too eager to start spray painting. Just imagine a nasty brown colored owl covered in dust - Urrr why didn’t I take a pic!

Owls are hot right now... I don't know why someone gave it away but I am glad they did!

It's amazing what a coat of white primer can do.
i {heart} it!
